This is the upper plate, containing the cartouche, of a two-plate map of central Russia in Europe. The map was issued many times over many decades. In an apparent attempt to pass this specimen off as an early strike, the inscription in the upper right marking the map as “chez Louis Renard” appears to have been rubbed off.
